Venus, Jupiter and the Moon - Jan.31

Venus, the Moon, and Jupiter are looking great in the sky this morning. Venus is to the lower left of the Moon and Jupiter is to the Moon's upper right.

I shot them at the office and then zoomed out by the transmitter site. You can see the "fishhook" part of Scorpius to the right of the towers. The Southern Cross was shining brightly too, but it is not in the picture.

The darker picture of the towers is how it actually looked when I shot it. I brightened things up in Lightroom and I like that version too.

You can click on the images to see them larger.

Moon and Planets, Jan. 29

Venus, Jupiter and the Moon were shining brightly in the early morning sky today.

Tomorrow, the Moon will be between Venus and Jupiter. Here is how it looked on my phone.

Venus, Jupiter, Mural

Here are Venus (left) and Jupiter, high over the mural on the TWR studio building.

Venus and Jupiter at TWR office

Here's what Venus and Jupiter looked like at 06:24 Thursday morning, here on Bonaire.

Next Thursday, Venus will have continued to move lower, and the Moon will be between Venus and Jupiter. I REALLY hope the sky is clear on the 31st.

Venus and Jupiter 2

Venus was shining to the left of Jupiter this morning.

Venus will move to the lower left of Jupiter on Thursday.

The star to the planets upper right is Antares.

Venus and Jupiter in the morning

Venus was to the upper left of Jupiter this morning. I shot this image with my phone while on my bike ride this am. You'll have to look at the image full screen to spot the planets, but you can get an idea of how bright they were shining when you consider how bright the sky was at that time.

2019-01-20 Lunar Eclipse

Here are a few pictures of the Lunar eclipse, shot with my trusty PowerShot SX50 HS. The gray areas of the moon always remind me of the Energizer Bunny facing to the left.

Venus and Jupiter, Jan 22, 23, 24

For all you early birds out there.  If one looks to the Southeast while it is still somewhat dark-ish in the morning...

On Tuesday morning, Jan 22, Venus is going to be slightly above and to the left of Jupiter.

On Wednesday morning, Venus will be directly to the left of Jupiter (as seen from Bonaire.)

On Thursday morning, Venus will be slightly to the lower left of Jupiter.

Both planets are quite bright and will definitely look more spectacular in person that they do in photos. I'm hoping for clear skies.

Moonrise

I was hoping to get the full moon rising over Seru Largu on Sunday evening. But the moon was a bit too far to the East, as opposed to Northeast. There were huge bushes blocking my line of site in the location that I should have been shooting from.

Here is a two second long time lapse of the moon rise. I shot six pictures per minute for ten minutes. While I was shooting these images to the East, the sun set in the West with a slight green flash.

Christmas Eve Rainbow

The intense rainy season seems to have ended, but we're still getting showers most every day.

Here is a Christmas Eve. rainbow I spotted at the office.

Bike Ride Bust

I slashed by rear bike tire the other morning, while riding through a rock filled gully out in the middle of nowhere.

I walked out to the Lagoon Road and shot this picture while I was waiting for Jonas Fischer to pick me up. Thanks Jonas!

It was a beautiful morning and I was glad to be outside to enjoy it, even if I wasn't on my bike as planned.

Bonaire Transmitter Pictures

Here are some pictures of the "new" Shine 800AM transmitter, here on Bonaire.

Wednesday AM Moon and Planets

The Moon is located between Venus and Jupiter this morning.

Scorpius is to the right.

It was a beautiful sight here on Bonaire at 6am.
